Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s already been six weeks since Blueprint! So many months spent creating oodles of patterns and illustrations in preparation for the big show, and then we blinked, and it was over. Here’s a little recap of how it all went down and where we’re at now:
The Big Apple
Ahead of the show, some of our artists arrived from far and wide, including Natalie who travelled from the UK and Metka who came all the way from Slovenia! Not to be defeated by Jet lag, the first point of action was a spot of shopping (of course, because when in NYC…). But the real fun always begins the booth set up day!
Armed with Karen’s trusty trolly we loaded up everything from tubes of banner, postcards, presentation sheets, look books, stands…and made our way down to the Hudson Mercantile to find our booth spot and get to work.
There were so many elements that went into our display - unique 3D banners that brought the work of all 13 of our artists together into an exciting, story-telling mural, art pins, designer booklets, blurb books, sell sheets and even pompoms and flower pens! When we were done, it was amazing and looked like this…
As in previous years, the show itself proved eye-opening! There’s nothing quite like it if you have the chance to participate - being in that environment, meeting with customers, and spending time with fellow artists and designers is inspiring! For us, to reconnect with our existing clients and forge new relationships is always special.
And the icing on the cake? We won the 2019 Best Booth award! The perfect way to end a 4 day run.
We worked hard, chatted tons and took lots of notes! And of course, tossed in some yummy food and sightseeing for good measure.
Four days came and went and then it was time for take down and goodbyes. After being in a trade show bubble surrounded by the community you usually only get to interact with online, it can be a little bitter sweet when the show comes to an end.
Now that the dust has settled, follow-up with our fabulous clients is well and truly underway. Our artists are cooking up new creations, working with trends, and filling requests as fast as we can go. We have big plans for the year ahead so be sure to watch this space!
